Biographical Sketch: 

Researcher at CNR-ITM since 2001, degree in Biology and PhD in Animal Biology. Expert in the field of membrane technology, especially in the realization of bioartificial membrane systems for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
She was scientific responsible of a PRIN project granted by MIUR. She is involved in several national and international research projects funded by the EU, MIUR and CNR. She serves as scientific evaluator of research projects. Member of scientific and organizing committee of international conferences. Member of teaching board of Ph.D Course (UNICAL). Reviewer and editorial board member for scientific journals. Supervisor of several master students and master trainees. She is co-author of over 80 peer-review scientific papers published in international journals, chapters in books and encyclopedia, various invited lectures and more than 80 contributions at scientific conferences in the field of material science and engineering, and regenerative medicine.


Main fields of research:
  • Membrane-based approaches for biomedical application: tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and bioartificial organs.

  • Study of cell-membrane interaction.

  • Membrane devices combining polymeric membranes and cells for bone, liver, nerve and skin regeneration.

  • Membrane bioreactors for the creation of 3D tissue models as investigational platforms for pharmacological screening and disease modeling.

  • Neuronal membrane devices as innovative tools for investigating neuronal repair and/or regeneration processes in neurodegenerative diseases.
