Biographical Sketch

Graduated in Pharmacy in 2004, PhD degree in methodologies for the development of molecules of pharmacological interest at the University of Calabria in 2009. Since 2005, she has participated in several projects funded by EU, MIUR and private companies, focused on membrane operations and integrated membrane systems in the treatment of industrial wastewaters and in the recovery of molecules of nutritional and pharmacological interest from agro-food products and by-products. She was “Visiting Postdoctoral Research” at the “Instituto Universitario de Ingenieria de Alimentos para el Desarrollo ", University Polytechnic of Valencia (November 2011-May 2012; November 2012 -May 2013). Co-author of over 45 papers in scientific journals, 13 book chapters and encyclopaedia entries and several contributions at scientific conferences on membrane science and engineering.

Main fields of research:

  • Integrated membrane systems for the clarification and concentration of fruit juices;
  • Extraction, purification, concentration of bioactive molecules from agro-food products and by-products through membrane operations;
  • Integrated membrane systems in the treatment of industrial wastewaters;
  • Study and optimization of membrane systems for applications in the food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
